SIGN PETITION: To Hold Kaitlyn Hunt Accountable For Her Crime!

Assistant State Attorney Brian Workman: Prosecute Kaitlyn Hunt for her crimes.

Petition by: Krista Ellis Lexington KY
I try to keep my opinions of current events to myself, but I received an email asking me to sign a petition to free Kaitlyn Hunt from prosecution. Why would I sign a petition asking the state attorney's office not to prosecute an 18-year-old ADULT of TWO counts of "lewd and lascivious battery on a CHILD 12--16 years of age?" According to news articles that I have read, Kaitlyn began having sexual relations with this girl in December 2012 when she was 18-years-old and her girlfriend was 14-years-old. First of all, what 18-year-old, male or female, gay or straight, finds a 14-year-old sexually attractive? You have got to have something wrong with your head to think of a 14-year-old sexually. Second, I have a daughter that will be 14-years-old in less than a month and I would not want anyone, male or female, adult or child, gay or straight, to think of her, or any of my children, sexually. It's just wrong.

On Tuesday the ACLU of Florida issued a statement condemning the state's prosecution of Hunt "for engaging in behavior that is both fairly innocuous and extremely common."
"This is a life sentence for behavior by teenagers that is all too common, whether they are male or female, gay or straight. High-school relationships may be fleeting, but felony convictions are not," the ACLU statement read.

So, is the ACLU of Florida saying that everyone's doing it so it's okay? I would hope not because a mentality like that only contributes to an already growing problem of teen pregnancies, absent parents, drop-outs, and so on. Besides, as an organization that is meant to help protect the rights of Americans, is it appropriate that they take the side of a pedophilia and dismiss the rights of the victim's parents to protect their underage child? Maybe the ACLU of Florida should stop while their ahead.
It is hard enough these days to raise our children without the influence of the world around them. At 14-years-old, a child can't possibly know what's best for them. We send them out in the world everyday hoping that you did a good job. I can't imagine how disheartening it was for the victims parents to find out that their daughter's upperclassman teammate engaged their daughter in a sexual relationship. We can't be with our children 24/7 so we look to our children's role models to encourage our children to make good choice, not make bad ones with them. Yes, ACLU of Florida, everyone's doing it, but like I tell my children, that doesn't make it right.
So I started this petition in support of the State Attorney's Office to continue with the prosecution of an 18-year-old girl in a sexual relationship with a minor.
To:
Brian Workman, Assistant State Attorney
Bruce Colton, Indian River County State Attorney
Continue the prosecution of Kaitlyn Hunt, an 18-year-old in a sexual relationship with a minor.
Sincerely,
